Healing Notes

Written by Isabelle Giroux ND on . Posted in Blog, Natural Healing

Seeing what is great in our life is not always an easy task, so this is why I just looovvveee this idea! I call it the Healing Jar Notes.

 2013-11-06 07.29.07

This is our decorated jar, home to nearly 1 year of super, extraordinary, feel-good moments written up on colored papers!

The purpose of this Healing Note Jar is to help heal some wounds and to recognize all that is really great in your life. In one year, lots of things happen, lots of things are lived, lots of things are seen and lots of things are felt. Some of us may have a tendency to recall the tougher times in our lives instead of the great moments. The goal of the Healing Jar Notes is to allow you to focus on all those wonderful things that occurred during the year.

When you are going about your normal life and something, even if small, touches you in any particular way, take a moment to write it down. Add all the details you need to so you can easily recall this moment in the future. You can even add the date if you like. Personally, I like to use colored paper because it adds to the moment. I also like to add details on what I saw, heard and felt.

The more information you add to that little piece of paper, the easier it will be for you to recall and relive that moment in time.

One year after starting this Healing Jar, if you are committed to writing all your feel-good moments down, your jar will be full. Reading all these notes will let you know just how many great moments were present in your life. It will be like spread a balm on a cut… healing!

My Healing Jar will be ready for review on December 31st. I am so looking forward to it! I have not only added special moments to my notes, but special feelings I lived, books I read, amazing things I saw and even intuitions I got. Everything that I felt grateful for was noted and added to the Healing Jar.

If you are presently doing this, share you thoughts on how you are appreciating this process in the comments below. If this is the first time you hear of this idea, I would love to know how you plan on adding this to your Love-To-Do-List!

Healing your Individuality

Written by Isabelle Giroux ND on . Posted in Blog, Health Journal

How are you at honouring your individuality? This is not an easy question to understand and seems to be an even tougher one to answer.

Individuality refers to the qualities that distinguish one person from another. It is what makes you unique; what makes you YOU! And to honour your individuality means to be YOU at all times, with everyone and in every situation. Not an easy task, but with practice and perseverance it can be done. If you are a person that strives to live your life mindfully, in balance and in harmony, this will be something that you will want to integrate in your daily life as a means to help you reach those goals. No one is better equipped to live your life according to your own rules than you are. This means if you listen intently to your needs and take action accordingly, while remaining true to your values, you will start living the life that you truly desire.

Some people may have trouble being themselves, others are not even sure who they really are. The only way to discover who you are is to pay close attention to what makes you truly happy. When you live, hear, see and feel something that resonates with your core values, it will leave an imprint of true happiness and gratitude within your Soul. Start from there. Allow yourself ample space to grow as an individual. At your own pace, start to say, do and experience the things that are in line with your heart’s desires. This is what we call individualizing, honouring your true self!

With practice you you will find your individuality and become the person that you are truly meant to be. You will find great joy in living each moment in harmony with your life’s mission. Believe in yourself, in your potential and in your greatness! Everyone has a right to happiness and to live their life meaningfully. It is your birthright!

HEALTH TIP: With Halloween just around yesterday’s corner, you may want to boost your child’s and perhaps your entire family’s immunity. Remember, sugars of any kind will lower the body’s resistance. You can strengthen the immune system by adding extra vitamin C, thyme, echinacea, garlic and some probiotics to your system for a week or two. Keeping an eye out for the quantity of sweets ingested is also a good idea!

Coming into the month of November means transiting from one season to another. This may cause some of you to feel like you’re missing sleep. Because the days are getting shorter and colder, it’s completely normal especially for the earth/metal element people (for more information on Chinese medicine, contact me directly for a full health evaluation). To help with the transition of the seasons, think about wearing some wool socks, a nice warm scarf, taking hot baths and adding chamomile, skullcaps and valerian to your diet.

Soft Apple Ice Cream

Written by Isabelle Giroux ND on . Posted in Blog, Recipes

I love to create an on-the-spot yummy treat that everyone can enjoy, that fits great with the theme of a meal and that stays true to all my healthy criterias. Since it was Thanksgiving this weekend, I wanted a special desert that would fit with our gluten-free vegan meal, still respect what I consider a to be a Thanksgiving desert and be ready in a jiffy. This is what I came up with…

Our special version of Apple Ice Cream.

All you need are these three ingredients; apples, agave nectar and cinnamon (preferably organic).

Here is the recipe:

1- Peel, core and cut one apple per person.
2- Lay out the apple quarters on a cookie sheet and freeze over night.
3- When you are ready to serve your desert, pull out your apple quarters and process them through your juicer. No juice will come out, but you will create a soft-textured apple ice cream. Yummy!
4- Spoon a small quantity into a fancy cup, top with a touch of agave nectar and cinnamon and Voila!

Although this recipe doesn’t really follow proper food combinations (because it is fruit after a meal), I really love it! Instead of serving it immediately after the starch-filled meal, consider offer it an hour or so after your last service. It will leave you and your guests feeling great and without worry of bloating.  All foods should always taste great and be healing!

How to Make a Holiday Healing

Written by Isabelle Giroux ND on . Posted in Blog, Natural Healing

Holidays can be a great opportunity to reconnect with friends and loved ones and even to recreate harmony within yourselves. They often gives us that extra time that we sometimes don’t have during our activity-filled lives. However, for some, holidays are a reminder of better days or things lost. Whatever your memories are of a specific holiday, you can heal some old wounds by following some basic guidelines:

1- Take some extra time to rest up. Busy lives often leaves tired and depleted of emotional strength. Extra rest will give you what you need to tackle those hard-hitting emotional moments.

2- Plan some special healing moments, activities or outings for yourself. Enjoying long-awaited, sought after moments are often seen and felt like a reward and when experienced, will leave you feeling happy, uplifted and energized.

3-Create a sense of gratitude within yourself. The best and fastest way to feel free, whole and love again is to remember what you already have that is great in your life and how grateful you are for it.

A holiday is very much like any other day. Stay mindful about your thoughts and commit to feelings of love and happiness. Let the power of gratitude fill your day and your Spirit and you may actually start noticing that a past holiday that use to create pain for you, is now a wonderful and healing moment.
